When masks are required, they must meet the qualifications of an ASTM-rated level 3 surgical mask, KF94, KN95, or N95.

The U.S. District Court for the District of Maine has updated a general order regarding mask and courthouse entry requirements in an ongoing response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Anyone entering the federal courts or any court-occupied spaces will be required to wear a mask when the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has designated “high” COVID-19 levels in the community. Every Friday, court executives will post notices on the district’s websites and at all entrances if masks are required and the mandate will be in effect for the next seven days, according to the general order signed Monday by Chief District Judge Jon D. Levy.
